Testing Info

Testings are traditionally held in December, May and August, but may also be held “off-cycle” as needed.  These events will be held in coordination with other WTSDA schools in the Columbus area, and may include visiting instructors and students.  The cost of testings will be $25.00 and will include all paperwork, wood, awards, and any other necessities.  All eligible students will be personally notified by the Chief Instructor approximately 2 weeks before testing.  Testing is an optional process, and it is the decision of the student to go before the testing panel.

Students who are not testing are encouraged to attend and offer support and encouragement to their fellow students.

Below is a list of the basic requirements for advancement in each rank.  Keep in mind that this list is the main requirements, but students are responsible for all of the material on the rank sheets they are given.  Please see an instructor for an additional copy of your rank sheet.

Dan Testings

Held two times per year, black belt testings are intense sessions that will clearly demonstrate the ability of the student.  Black Belt testing is held in front of a testing panel composed of Master Instructors from the region, and Grandmaster Shin attends at least one Regional Dan examination per year.  The minimum requirements are detailed in the WTSDA Gup Manual.
