We offer several different types of Tang Soo Do classes, depending on the age of the student. For detailed information about prices, membership fees, or financial assistance, please directly contact the Western Branch Licking County YMCA.
1. Tiny Tigers: Tiny Tigers is oriented towards the youngest Tang Soo Do students, ages 3-5, and is designed to introduce them to martial arts training in an environment that caters specifically to their age needs. This class focuses on developing basic motor and social skills through martial arts. Tiny Tigers will have a different ranking system, with a goal that they will be prepared to join the Youth class as an advanced white belt or as an orange belt depending on how long they attend the Tiny Tigers class before advancing to the Youth class. Tiny Tigers currently meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6PM.
2. Youth: Our Youth class is for students aged 6-12. We strive to provide a fun and safe context for learning martial arts techniques as well as building mental and physical discipline, coordination, social skills, control, balance, respect and more. Youth classes meet on Monday and Wednesday at 6:30PM.
3. Adult: This class is designed for ages 13 and above. We strive for a serious approach to the study of martial arts as a way of life. Physical skills are taught and matched to the physical ability of the student. A great choice for an adult of any age, students can expect to increase their flexibility, core strength, balance and endurance as well as develop a better understanding of situational awareness, confidence and more. Adults meet on Monday and Wednesday at 7:30PM and 10:00AM on Saturdays.
4. Family Classes: Tang Soo Do is one of the few activities where parent and child can work out together, following the same curriculum and practice together. Parents are encouraged to step away from the sidelines and onto the training floor for this exciting Saturday morning class. While largely youth oriented, the class is sure to challenge adults as well. For safety reasons, all adults MUST be associated with a child (parent, relative, etc) however, the class is open to any child who meets the age requirements, regardless of whether they have an accompanying adult. We hope this will give some parents flexibility with their schedules and provide another training opportunity as well. Adults are allowed to take this class at no charge. Family classes meet on Saturday mornings 9:00-9:50AM.
